At Pathway Project we have a diverse counselling team of employed counsellors, volunteer counsellors and student counsellors; all of whom are dedicated to therapeutically supporting those impacted by abuse and violence.
We offer a client orientated counselling service to those aged 18 and over, who have or are experiencing domestic and sexual abuse and we are also committed to offering a counselling service to secondary survivors.
At Pathway Project we recognise the widespread impact of trauma on individuals, therefore our counselling service aims to emphasis wellbeing, trust and empowerment. Our counsellors use trauma-sensitive techniques to support growth, helping those impacted regain control and rebuild self-worth.
What is trauma-informed counselling?
Trauma is a deeply impactful experience that can alter the course of one’s life in ways that are often difficult to understand and process. Whether from a single event, a series of experiences, or prolonged exposure to harmful situations, trauma can have lasting effects on a person’s mental, emotional, physical and social well-being. It can shape how individuals see themselves, others, and the world around them.
Trauma-informed counselling has a deep appreciation and understanding of the diverse and wide devastating impacts trauma can have, tailoring support to each unique individual offering a compassionate, safe and dynamic space to facilitate self-reflection, hope, empowerment and modelling a future with you at the centre.
It is often a deep personal decision to start counselling. Counselling involves a combination of self- awareness, emotional preparedness, willingness to be open, proactive mindset and continued commitment. By carefully considering these factors, you can determine if you’re ready to commit to starting your counselling journey with us at Pathway Project.
